Bhubaneswar, Jan 12: With the improvement in Covid-19 situa-tion in the state, the state gov-ernment Tuesday modified its ear-lier guidelines on conduct of marriage processions. The gov-ernment allowed conduct of mar-riage processions, but said all par-ticipating in the procession have to wear face masks and maintain physical distance.
Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) PK Jena has written a let-ter to all Collectors, SPs, munici-pal commissioners and police com-missioner in this regard, Tuesday.
Due to Covid-19 pandemic, the state government had banned the marriage processions since July 6, 2020. The state government has allowed marriage related gather-ings with a ceiling of 200 persons and funeral/last rites gatherings with a ceiling of 100 persons sub-ject to a few conditions for the month of January. A maximum of 200 persons including bride, bridegroom, priest, friends, rela-tives, guests, members of band party, light and sound systems, among others can be allowed for the processions. All have to fol-low Covid-19 safety protocols.
