Chandigarh, Jan it BhartiyaKisan Union national president Bhupinder Singh Mann Thursday said he is re-cusing himself from the four-mem-ber committee appointed by the Supreme Court to resolve the dead-lock between farmers and the Centre over the new agri-marketing law.
Farmer unions and Opposition parties had raised doubts over the composition of the panel, insist-ing that its members have been in favour of the three laws in the past.
Mann said he is thankful to the apex court for nominating him to the panel but would give up any position to prevent farmers’ inter-ests from being compromised.
“As a farmer myself and a union leader, in view of the prevailing senti 40 a ments and apprehensions amongst the farm unions and the public in general, lam ready to sacrifice any position of-fered or given to me so as to not com-promise the interests of Punjab and farmersof thecountry,” hesaid ina state-ment here.

“We decided to rliggcsociate our-selves from Mann as he did not consult with us to work as a com-mittee member ” said BKU (Punjab) president Baldev Singh Mianpur. “We thought that farmers were fighting for their rights and they were against any committee and then what was the point in being part of the panel,” he said.
