Cops take Nanda on 2-day remand



Bhubaneswar, Jan 15: The Commissionerate Police Friday took Himanshu Bhushan Nanda, who has been accused of cheating several persons by promising them kidneys for transplantations, on a two-day remand. Commissionerate Police hope to arrest other persons involved in racket on the basis of the clues elicited during the interrogation of Nanda. 

Nanda, a resident of Kendrapara district was earlier arrested by the Nayapalli police Wednesday on the basis of a complaint lodged by Pratap Chandra Mishra, one of the victims. Mishra had allegedly given Nanda more than Rs 5 lakh as first installment of the total deal amount of Its 10 lakh to arrange a kidney donor in 2019. Subsequently the commission-erate police also came across an-other similar complaint against Nanda lodged at Izanisagar Police station by one Diptimayee Sahoo of Angul. Nanda had allegedly taken Rs 3.19 lakh from Sahoo to arrange a kidney donor for her ailing mother undergoing treat-ment at a private hospital in the city Thursday Ashok Kumar Nayak, -a resident of Rangamatia in Mancheswar police limits, accused Nanda of cheating him in the same manner. Nanda had taken around Rs 18 lakh from Nayak as-suring him to arrange a kidney donor too.
