Cuttack, Jan 15: The Commissionerate Police Friday claimed to have busted a fake to-bacco manufacturing unit at Sasol village under Sadar police limits in the Millennium City here with the arrest of its owner and seizure of huge quantity of adulterated to-bacco.
Cuttack DCP took to the Twitter to inform that they have seized adulterated tobacco and related products worth over Rs 22 lakh from the unit under Sadar police limits and arrested the unit’s owner Sana Acting on a tipoff, a team from Sadar police, led by inspector in-charge (IIC) Sudhansu Bhusan Jena, raided the unit operating in Sasol village. Sawdust and other can-cer-causing harmful chemicals
were being used to prepare and pack the tobacco. Besides adulter-ated tobacco, packets carrying fake logos of top brands were seized from the unit, said a senior police official who was a part of the raid-ing team.
“A rase (35/2021) has been reg-istered with the Sadar police in this regard. We’re investigating the source of raw materials for making the fake tobacco,” the DCP tweeted, asking the people to stay away from adulterated food items. Earlier

Raw materials, labels used in the manufacturing of the fake gutkha products were also seized from the unit
