Bhubaneswar, Jan 16: In a rare surgery a tumour weighing around 10 kilograms was removed from the abdomen of a septuagenarian by a team of doctors from a hospital in the state capital. The patient was also operated earlier for a small tumour in Mumbai.
The man hails from western Odisha and was reported to be carrying a bulky tumour inside his stomach. Doctors said the tumour was rare as it arose from the fat in-side the abdomen. As such tu-mours do not produce symptoms,
it assumed an enormous size be-fore it presented itself because of the size. A team of doctors from the Apollo Hospital here undertook the surgery for three hours to cut out the tumour from the body. The pa-tient is now said to be recovering and doing well.
