Mercury dips to 5.8°C at Phulbani

Bhubaneswai; Jan 16: With the return of coldwave to the state, mercury fell down below 10 de-gree Celsius at five places, Saturday As per the report of Bhubaneswar MeT Centre, Phulbani remained the coldest place by recording the lowest temperature of 5.8 degrees 

Celsius preceded by Jharsuguda (7.6 degrees), Darngbadi (8 de-grees), Sundargarh (8.5 degrees) and Keonjhar (9.9 degrees). Balangir recorded a minimum temperature of 10 degrees Celsius while Sonepur recorded 10.2 de grees, Bhawanipatna-10.5, Sambalpur-10.8 degrees and Angul-11 degrees. 

Places like Chandbali, Baripada, Hirakud, Talcher, Koraput, Titlagarh, Nayagarh and Boudh witnessed a night temperature of below 15 degrees Celsius,

 the Met Centre said. The twin city of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack saw minimum tem-perature of 16 and 15 degree Celsius, respectively. Dense fog occurred at various parts of the state with poor visi-bility at many places including in Bhubaneswar Saturday morn-ing.

 The Met centre said shallow to moderate fog would occur at a few places of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada,Kandbamal,Kalahandi, Bolangir, Nawarangpur, Boudh, Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri, Jagatsinghpur and Cuttack dis-tricts during Sunday night and early Monday.
