Bhubaneswar, Jan 16: The state reported 178 new Covid-19 cases Saturday taking its tally to 3,33,127, a senior Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) department official said. One more person died of the disease, following which the toll rose to 1,899, said the official.
Of the new cases, 103 were reported from dif-ferent quarantine centres. Sundargarh recorded the high-est 30 new cases, followed by rSambalpur (24) and Jharsuguda (23). Eight districts—Boudh, Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, Kandhamal,Kendrapara,Keonjhen Nayagarh and Nabarangpur—did not register any new cases since Friday,
the official said. The latest death was reported from the Sundargarh district. Odisha has 2,087 active cases at present, while 3,29,088 patients have recov-ered. The state a has so far Aar tested over 1114r, 73.46 lakh samples for Covid-19, in-cluding 26,490 Friday Odisha’s
positivity rate stands at 4.53 per cent. Meanwhile, India has reported 15,158 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, taking the coun-try’s total number of Covid-19 caws to 1,05,42,841.
The country has also recorded 175 deaths apart from the fresh cases. Over the past day; India has also reported a total of 16,977 dis-charges, as per Union Health Ministry records, taking the total number of recovered cases to 1,01,79715. India now has 2,11,033 active cases in total. With 175 deaths,
the country’s death toll has reached 1,52,093. Meanwhile, the world has seen over 2 million deaths due to Covid-19 so far since the beginning of the pandemic, sources said.
