Bhubaneswar, Jan 21: House Committee on Environment headed by Speaker Surya Narayan Patro Thursday held a meeting to dis-cuss how to control environment pollution in the state.
The panel has decided to form three Sub-Committees to study en-vironment pollutions caused by various sources including industries and make necessary recommen-dations to control it. It was decided at the meeting to hold the next meeting of the panel February 1 where reports of Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water, Housing & Urban Development and Forest &Environment departments on environment pollution will be dis-cussed.
The committee will also ex-amine the orders issued by National Green Tribunal (NGT) to control pol-lution in the state. A sub-committee headed by Opposition chief whip Mohan Charan Majhi will study the re-lease of waste water to rivers and

other water bodies while another panel led by Congress leader Narasingha Mishra was formed to give necessary recommenda-tions to control environment pol-lution in villages,
cities and other urban areas. Besides, the third House Sub-Committee headed by BJD legislator Badri Narayan Petra will study re-lease of charcoal by sponge iron fac-tories. The three Sub-Committees will submit its report to the Assembly before beginning of the Assembly session.
